Friends and Family Say Good-Bye to Farrah

July 1st, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Farrah Fawcett, Ryan O'Neal

Farrah Fawcett’s funeral was held yesterday and 200 guests attended the ceremony that could be attended by invitation only. People brings us the details and it sounds like a very beautiful ceremony, with many of Farrah’s closest friends saying some very touching words about her. The reception afterwards sounds like a celebration of her life and the things she loved. Hopefully the family will be able to find some way to make peace without Farrah. From People,

“A tearful Ryan and Redmond O’Neal joined Farrah Fawcett’s closest friends and family for the actress’s private funeral Tuesday afternoon at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

Fawcett’s Charlie’s Angels costar Kate Jackson, Marla Maples, Joan Collins and Tatum O’Neal were among the 200 guests attending the hour-long Catholic service, where longtime pal Alana Stewart and Fawcett’s doctor Lawrence Piro delivered the eulogies.

“Goodbye sweet girl,” said Stewart. “[Farrah] never felt sorry for herself during her illness … she fought cancer furiously.”
“She’s the most beautiful angel in heaven,” Stewart added. “She always seemed so indestructible.”

With city police and private security lining the streets, a hearse drove up just a few minutes before the funeral began. Ryan and son Redmond served as pallbearers carrying Fawcett’s casket, adorned with yellow and orange flowers.

A man in a kilt played “Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes at the beginning of the service, which also included Bible readings and prayer.

“The funeral was really just beautiful and so sweet,” Lisa Fawcett, the actress’s cousin, told PEOPLE. A special moment during the service came when “everyone just embraced [Redmond],” she says about Fawcett’s 24-year-old son, who was allowed to leave jail and attend.

After the service concluded, vans shuttled guests to the reception at the Jonathan Club, where a band played Fawcett’s favorite songs, including those by Van Morrison.”

It’s so sad to be saying good-bye to such a talented person, and one that was so loved in her own life. Our thoughts go out to the family as we all remember Farrah for the beautiful angel that she will always be.

Ryan O’Neal Releases Statement

There’s no doubt that Ryan O’Neal has been going through his own personal hell ever since Thursday morning when his longtime partner, Farrah Fawcett, passed away. I can’t imagine the kind of pain that is and these two really did have a very wonderful love story.

The two had a relationship that lasted for 17 years before they broke up and during those 17 years, things hardly ever went smoothly. They broke up in 1997, after a somewhat horrible split, and in 2001 Ryan O’Neal was diagnosed with leukemia. Farrah, being the miracle that she was, went over to his house to see him and the two had been back together ever since. In 2006 the couple shared joyous news that Ryan’s leukemia had gone into remission and they seemed to have battled another war together. Then, staying true to the irony and rocky road that was Ryan and Farrah’s relationship, Farrah was diagnosed with anal cancer shortly afterwards. Ryan was of course by her side during the entire battle and I suppose he can take comfort in knowing that once again, their relationship has only been temporarily put on hold. And that one day the two will truly be together forever. Ryan has recently released a statement to the public and it comes from Star,

“With the death of his longtime love Farrah Fawcett, Ryan O’Neal’s real-life Love Story has ended. But the actor says he’s taking comfort in the “beautiful times” he spent with the Charlie’s Angels beauty.
“After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away,” Ryan said in a statement. “Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world.”

Ryan is handling the funeral arrangements himself and the private ceremony is set to take place on Tuesday afternoon. Once again, our thoughts go out to Ryan, their son Redmond, and the rest of the family.

Remembering Farrah Fawcett

June 26th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Farrah Fawcett, Ryan O'Neal

It was the first of tragic news yesterday as the world learned that Farrah Fawcett was finally at peace and no longer battling cancer. Early yesterday morning, Farrah Fawcett died, just hours after being read her final rights. Learning of that news alone told the world that it was only a matter of time but still made the news no less shocking or saddening when the blondest bombshell of them all passed away.

Farrah Fawcett had endured a tremendous battle against anal cancer and it’s reported that once it spread to her liver, it was unresponsive to chemotherapy. The world hoped for a miracle but in the end, we were proven that we had already been given it in Farrah, if even only for a short time. So how will you remember Farrah Fawcett? As the best and original pinup girl? As Jill Munroe, the tomboy and most athletic of Charlie’s Angels? Or as just a beautiful and talented woman that we were privileged to have watched? However you will remember Farrah, her close friends hope that you remember her the way most of us probably will - smiling. From US,

“Kate Jackson released the following statement to Usmagazine.com:

“I will miss Farrah everyday. She was a selfless person who loved her family and friends with all her heart, and what a big heart it was. Farrah showed immense courage and grace throughout her illness and was an inspiration to those around her. When I think of Farrah, I will remember her kindness, her cutting dry wit and of course her beautiful smile. Today when you think of Farrah, remember her smiling because that is exactly how she wanted to be remembered … smiling.”
Smith, the other member of the original Charlie’s Angels trio, reminisced about her friend as well.

“Farrah had courage, she had strength, and she had faith. And now she has peace as she rests with the real angels,” she told Us in a statement.
Fawcett, 62, passed away Thursday at 9:28 a.m. PST at Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., after a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer. She was with Alana Stewart, her longtime partner Ryan O’Neal and her doctor Lawrence Piro.”

Our thoughts go out to Farrah’s family, especially her husband, Ryan O’Neal and her son, Redmond. Just 3 days before her death, Ryan O’Neal had said that he was going to marry Farrah as soon as she felt well enough. Such a very, very sad story.
