What’s New With Jamie Lynn Spears?

As I was writing a post about Britney Spears the other day, I couldn’t help but wonder what was new with her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, and that cute little baby she had some time ago. It seems that Jamie Lynn has definitely faded into the background and become known only as “Britney Spears’ sister”, despite my attempts to prevent that from happening. But, there seems to be a lot that’s new with Britney’s lil sis. She’s dumped her baby daddy, Casey Aldridge, and hooked up with someone quite a bit older than her. His name is James Watson and he’s everything Jamie Lynn needs. He’s ten years older than she is, she can see a future with him, and he’s got money. Sounds like a match made in heaven, doesn’t it? “Britney Spears’ little sister Jamie Lynn Spears has reportedly broken up with her baby daddy Casey Aldridge and she has already found a new love, a 28 year-old local businessman by the name of James Watson.

The mother of the 19-month old Maddie Briann and James, who owns a company called Advanced Multimedia Partners, started dating last December and they are apparently really happy together. James is more mature, ambitious and a big spender, which is something that Jamie enjoys in a man.

“He installs communications equipment and high-definition TVs for large corporations,” the source says. “James enjoys making money — and enjoys spending it too.”

“They started dating last December,” a source tells Star. “I don’t think James cares at all about who she is; they really seem to like each other.”

Jamie could not imagine a future with Casey since he is young, immature and not exactly career oriented. The 18 year-old mom only stayed with her baby’s daddy for good publicity. “Even when she was pregnant, she didn’t really see a future with him,” a friend tells Star. “She only gave the impression of staying with him so long because it looked better in the eyes of the public.”

Okay firstly, I’m not buying the whole bit about how Jamie Lynn stayed with Casey because it looked good in the eyes of the public. Since when did either of the Spears’ girls what looked good to us? And good on them for it! Not to mention the fact that Jamie Lynn has been out of the eye of the public for quite some time. So, if this whole thing with her and Casey just went down recently, I highly doubt she was staying with him for appearances’ sake.

It does disappoint me that Jamie Lynn is so eager to be with someone because they have money. And I don’t know that an 18-year-old dating a 28-year-old is such a good idea either. But since when did Jamie Lynn Spears ever make good decisions? Sadly, it’s easy to see why she did only become known as Britney Spears’ sister.

Casey Aldridge Doing Well After Car Crash

On Sunday Casey Aldridge, the father of Jamie Lynn Spears’ baby daughter, Maddie,was rushed to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a fractured skull after he crashed his car with 3 other passengers in it. It sounds like everyone’s going to be okay and while Casey is still in the hospital under observation, it doesn’t sound as though there will be any permanent damage. Casey was coming home from a bachelor party and so I suspect that he had alcohol in his system, not that I’m quoting that as fact at this point, it’s just purely suspicion on my part. So far there has been talk of possible charges but nothing official has been announced. From Pop Crunch,

“Jamie Lynn Spears’ boyfriend has been removed from the intensive care unit of a Mississippi hospital, where he has been treated since a serious car crash on Sunday.

Casey Aldridge - the father of the former child star’s 10-month-old daughter Maddie –was charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle after he crashed his 2008 Ford F-250 after his cousin’s bachelor party.

Casey, 19, and three of the passengers were thrown from the vehicle after Casey lost control. A fourth passenger — who was not ejected — was the only person in the truck who was wearing a seatbelt.

Casey was rushed to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a fractured skull.

Despite early worries that Casey may have suffered brain damage, his uncle Odus Jackson has revealed that he is alert and doing well.

“There was just a little swelling, but he’s alert. They’re keeping him under precaution for a couple of days to make sure that no bleeding starts, but at the moment he’s resting well and doing well…”

“He’s been talking, and they were keeping him awake as much as possible. It looks like he’s probably over the danger. I think they are about to keep him under observation for about three days. Doctors are telling him that he should recover to full normalcy. It’ll just take time for it all to heal up - the brain.”

So when I first saw the original headline telling how Jamie Lynn Spears’ boyfriend, Casey Aldridge was in a car crash, I thought, “Wait. Boyfriend? Are they back together? When did this happen?” So, who has answers for me. Who knows and I don’t think it really matters. These are going two people who are quickly going to become two of Hollywood’s almost-unknowns. Jamie Lynn is going to go back to being Britney Spears’ little sister and Casey’s going to go back to just being her baby daddy. So what they’re doing in their personal lives will be of no concern to us.

No Wedding Bells for the Southern Belle

Jamie Lynn Spears has reportedly smartened up and realized that this is not the 1950s and just because you’ve gone and gotten yourself knocked up, it doesn’t mean that you need to run down the wedding aisle. She has called off the wedding that was to take place between herself and Casey Aldridge, daddy to their little girl Maddie Briann. And that’s not the only change she has made. She has also decided that she no longer needs to act and will remain at home, being a Southern mom. From Gossip Rocks,

“A source tells Ok! magazine which is in tight with the Spear clan, “The wedding’s off. They are still in love, living together and very happy, but they have no plans to get married. Jamie Lynn has everything she wants and feels no need for a ring and piece of paper.”
The mag also claims that the teenaged mom plans to leave her acting career behind her.

The source says, “She has told friends and family she’s never coming back to Hollywood. She feels that part of her life is over. Jamie Lynn enjoyed every minute of doing Zoey, but since she’s had Maddie, her life has changed completely. She’s happy being a real hands-on Southern mother and hopes to continue that for years to come with Casey right by her side.

Jamie Lynn knows she needs to make a living when she grows older, so she’s already discussing her career options with advisers. She wants Maddie to grow up in comfort.”

I can certainly understand her not wanting to go back to acting, especially after seeing what the media has done to Britney and with Jamie Lynn living through it herself, especially during her pregnancy. I’ve never really understood why Jamie Lynn got such a bad rap. She did get herself into a bad situation but it’s worked out okay so far and she seems to be making all the right moves to make sure that her baby is well taken care of. 

As for her and Casey, I don’t think this will last. Even though I think not getting married right now is probably the best decision, I think that taking a step back in a relationship - whatever that step is - is always the first sign that the relationship is on its way out.

Britney Shows her Kids her Roots

After a busy week showing up at Dodger Stadium to perform with Madonna, which was also the first public performance she has given since her embarrasment at last year’s MTV Awards, Britney Spears took a little chill time with both of her boys as she packed them up and took them to her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, where her mother and sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, live with along with Jamie Lynn’s little one, Maddie Briann. The reunion seemed to be a very happy one as the whole family, including brother Brian, is taking some time to reconnect. From Just Jared,

“Britney Spears takes her two sons — Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2 — home to Kentwood, Louisiana on Friday morning. The trio was accompanied by Britney’s older brother Brian and father Jamie.

They were all greeted at the airport by Britney’s mother Lynne. Britney, 26, and the kids are expected to stay in town for a week for a little family bonding.”

Once again, it’s nice to see Britney taking some time to show her boys what’s really important in life and this does just prove that she is off the road of recovery and has made it back to the land of the living. I’m glad that she’s better now but I wish she’d at least start seeing someone so we’d have something more interesting to talk about rather than just her family visits and great performances. But I suppose with the past couple of years that she’s had, it wouldn’t be a bad thing for her to stay boring Britney for a little while longer.

Is Jamie Lynn Preggers…Again?!?

I saw reports that Jamie Lynn was pregnant for a second time just a short three months after giving birth to her daughter, Maddie Briann, and initially, I laughed it off as the National Enquirer trying to sell copies of their rag once again. However, there are now several people picking up the story, which always makes me give it more credit, and her reps are denying it. Now I find that usually when the reps start talking, there’s something to hide or something to share. When the news is no news, reps usually can’t be bothered squashing every rumor. From the Enquirer,

“In a blockbuster world exclusive, The ENQUIRER has learned that the 17-year-old Zoey 101 starlet is now expecting for the second time - a mere three months after giving birth on June 19 to baby Maddie Briann. Jamie’s desperate to keep the shock­ing news secret and some people close to her are urging Jamie Lynn to consider ending the pregnancy, sources say. “Jamie Lynn is about eight weeks pregnant, and she and her mom Lynne are hysterical,” revealed a close source. “Neither of them knows what to do, but for now they’re trying to keep the news from getting out.” Too late. The unplanned pregnancy came as a shock to Jamie Lynn, who’d been breast-feeding her infant daughter Maddie Briann, insiders say. “Jamie Lynn believed she couldn’t get pregnant while she was breast-feeding,” said the close source. “She’d expected to have her period by early September.” A home pregnancy test came back positive and Jamie Lynn cried her eyes out, said the source.”

Also, the fact that she may have gotten pregnant because she thought she couldn’t when she’s breastfeeding doesn’t surprise me either. NOT because I think she’s an idiot, as so many other people do, but because lots of women think that when you’re breastfeeding you can’t get pregnant. I think it really is sad if it’s true and I think it’s sadder that her friends and family want her to terminate. She definitely is very young to be a mother of two but it does seem like she has a good support system around her, no matter how crazy they may all be. Good luck, Jamie Lynn.

Now That’s Just Wrong!!

As a curious blogger, I am all for the whole ‘you lost your privacy rights when you starred in that tv show’ mentality however, I think that there are some lines that just can’t be crossed…Celebrities getting dressed and undressed without their knowledge is not cool, taking pictures at funerals is a no-no, and messing with the kids is just unthinkable. But it seems that someone has tried to do just that as Jamie Lynn was caught on camera breastfeeding new baby Maddie.

The story goes that Casey Aldridge, Jamie Lynn’s betrothed took the shots in a sweet moment between the new parents and their new baby girl and that Casey dropped off his memory card at a Walmart to have them developed. Some perv behind the counter at Walmart got sick kicks out of this and decided to start selling the photos. Oh, but they’ll get theirs, don’t worry! The story continues to say that Jamie Lynn is not legal age and so any photos of her and her *ahem* womanly parts can be considered child pornography. From Ninja Dude,

“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ federal and local authorities are on the hunt for someone peddling 12 pics of Britney Spears, Jamie Lynn, daughter Maddie and baby daddy Casey Aldridge. One of the pictures shows Jamie Lynn breast feeding Maddie — Jamie Lynn’s left breast is exposed. The pics were taken on Casey’s digital camera. We’re told he took the camera card to his local Wal-Mart in Louisiana for copies. Law enforcement believes someone at the Wal-Mart may have made extra copies, then tried selling them.

Because Jamie Lynn is a minor, selling the pics — or buying them — could constitute a violation of federal laws prohibiting pornography. Peddling pictures of a minor’s breast — even if not taken for sexual purposes — could land the seller and the buyer in federal prison if they are marketed across state lines for the purpose of being lurid. Also, anyone purchasing the pics could be prosecuted for the crime of receiving stolen property.”

I don’t know if you could really consider this child pornography and that’s a pretty serious charge to slap on someone. I also need to ask, why are celebrities such as Jamie Lynn and Casey taking their precious digital files to Walmart for cryin out loud? Are they looking for something like this to happen?!? I don’t have an answer for this but I know that there are plenty of stars that have personal memories that they don’t want shared with the entire world…Ask one of them what they do to keep private photos private! I do feel bad for the couple though. They’ve already had so much crap to deal with and I really think they’re just a young couple trying to make it and keep their happiness.

One Teen Mom to Another

I never really thought about what celebrities must think when they read about other celebrities in the news, but the recent news of Bristol Palin becoming pregnant must have struck a very obvious chord with Jamie Lynn Spears. It seems that Lynne Spears has made a call to Petit Tresor and ordered that baby girl burp cloths be sent to Bristol and that they be sent in Jamie Lynn’s name. One does have to wonder if the story is true because the news of the pregnancy is so recent that it’s doubtful that Jamie Lynn would know the sex. From Celebitchy,

“Britney Spears’ little sis is reaching out to Bristol Palin, the 17-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin, John McCain’s vice presidential pick.

A source close to the Beverly Hills baby store Petit Tresor tells CelebTV.com exclusively that a gift from Plain Mary was sent to Bristol Palin on behalf of Jamie Lynn Spears.

An insider says it was actually Lynne Spears, Jamie Lynn’s mom, who called about the gift, and requested the gift come from her daughter.

“It was ordered by phone, and they asked what could be done for under $100. They spent $60 on pink burpcloths,” said the source.”

We’re dealing with an unknown person here so who knows if this story is actually true and I also have my own doubts about why Jamie Lynn or her mother for that matter, would call with a specific limit instead of just picking something out themselves if they wanted to stay on budget. Celebitchy, where I first heard of the source also stated that this same store has been known for spreading falsies about Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes.

However, a part of me desperately wants to believe this story is true. I just love the whole human element of it and that Jamie Lynn would actually be feeling what Bristol Palin is going through. I think sometimes we look at celebrities so much and analyze their lives that we forget they’re actually people that we’re talking about. It’s nice to see one of them reach out to another.

A Peek at Mummy Jamie Lynn

So we haven’t actually heard all that much about new mom Jamie Lynn Spears since she had little baby girl Maddie Briann and her sister, Britney reportedly had a breakdown in the hospital. I never believed those Britney rumors either but it’s nice to see Jamie Lynn and her mom, Lynne Spears out and about shopping with the little bundle in tow. The older mother and daughter seemed to be getting along just fine with the little darling all covered and protected from the view of the paparazzi.

However, those that have been thirsting for Jamie Lynn news before this had already been busy spreading rumors about how the actress is battling food and health issues. Apparently, it’s not enough that she has a new baby and is probably as exhausted as hell but now people have to start picking about what she’s eating. From the Gossip Girls,

“According to tabloid rumors, Jamie Lynn has been heading down the road to bad health with her constant fast food binges. And according to one source, if she doesn’t get healthy soon, she could be in big trouble.

“Jamie Lynn says she has been so busy with the baby she has not been looking after herself and instead of eating healthily has been gorging on burgers and fries - too often than is good for her. Everyone thinks she has been comfort eating because of the stress of being a new mum and on top of that she is having to deal with all the rumors that Casey Aldridge has been cheating on her. She needs to start looking after herself better. Not just for herself but she has baby Maddie to think of now too.”

I don’t believe any of the rumors when it comes to Jamie Lynn. What new parent doesn’t grab for what’s fast and easy instead of making homemade, low-fat meals? Please. And from the looks of it, she’s doing awesome with her weight! If she had been carefully watching what she ate and limiting herself, people would rag on her for having an eating disorder and rumors would fly around about how she’s suffering from low self-esteem. It just gets out of control. My take on it is that Jamie Lynn, Casey Aldridge, and their new baby live a somewhat boring life when it comes to the three of them and the papers need to make stuff up. I don’t think her health is in danger and I don’t think Casey is cheating on her. I think she’s a new parent, who is very young, and who is trying to keep a low profile while she’s making this huge adjustment. I think anyone should be able to understand that.

Lynne Spears’ Disgusting Book

Whoever said you can’t live off of someone else’s happiness didn’t know Lynne Spears. The cover of her book Through the Storm has recently been released on the Internet and although the book is supposed to be about the life of raising two teen girls, Britney and Jamie Lynn, as well as her husband, Jamie Spears and their son, Brian Spears, only Lynne appears on the cover. I think that this is a true testament as to what the book is really about. It’s about Lynne. And how she is willing to do whatever it takes to exploit her family’s fame as well as their downfalls in order to make the almighty buck. Here is what US says the book is about,

“In this openhearted memoir, Lynne speaks about Britney, Jamie Lynn, Bryan, ex-husband Jamie, herself, and their lives together from Louisiana to Los Angeles, including:

It’s nice that they try to paint a picture of how it revolves largely around her faith but I never think it’s right to use religion as a shield of words when actions speak largely to the contrary. Let’s remember that this is a mother who couldn’t even be there when her pregnant teenage daughter needed her because she chose to stay with her daughter who has a mental condition, even though that daughter was in the perfectly good hands of her father. It’s this same woman who pushed Britney to join dance and singing lessons as well as beauty pageants at the young age of three! It’s this woman that was no where to be seen or heard of as Britney shaved her head, bared it all in public, and came into conflict with the paparazzi. She can call the book whatever she wants but I think we all know what it really is - a cash grab.

Britney Spears is the Girl-Next-Door Again

There’s no doubt that Britney Spears is becoming the girl-next-door that we all originally fell in love with when the pop star exploded onto the music scene. She has turned over a new leaf for sure, going in a few short months from crazy psychopath to loving homebody. Spears has been making big moves, trying to show the public, her family, the courts, and herself that she can live life as a normal human being and even more than that, she can be a loving and devoted mother. Now that Britney has regained visitation rights with her two boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James. She even had her mother over at one of their recent sleepovers and has been spending some girl-bonding time with her mom, Lynne Spears. And it sounds like they made quite a pretty picture. “In town since Wednesday, Lynne and Britney have been enjoying some one-on-one time together shopping at the True Religion warehouse and Pottery Barn on Friday before enjoying a “girls dinner” of salad, sushi rolls, and fish at Bond St. restaurant. One source said Britney looked great,
“Britney walked in with a big smile and introduced her mom to the staff. She looked gorgeous, and I have never seen her in a better mood. She was laughing the whole time she was here. Britney seemed to have the best time hanging out with her mom and friends.”

And she seems to be stepping into the new role as Auntie quite well too. WIth the arrival of Maddie Briann, her sister Jamie Lynn Spears’ new baby girl, the whole family loves calling her “Aunt Bee” in reference to the fact that Britney used to love watching old reruns of The Andy Griffith Show in which the character, Aunt Bee, was her favorite.
