Dennis Quaid Reaches a Settlement

December 17th, 2008 | Comments Off | Posted in Dennis Quaid

I’m generally not one for celebrities who already have a ton of money to gouge people for every dime they have, as we so often see in the nasty divorces that take place in Hollywood, but when someone has harmed your children, I don’t care who you are, I hope you get every dime that you can! Such is the case with Dennis Quaid, who sued Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after his twin babies almost died of a lethal overdose. I remember this story when it first happened and I watched an interview in which Quaid said that his baby girl and boy were given far too much blood thinner and as a result, he said ‘blood was coming out of every orifice of their bodies.’ I can’t imagine watching a more terrible thing happen to your kids and now Quaid has received some retribution - in the form of a £500,000 settlement with the hospital. From Digital Spy,

“Dennis Quaid has agreed a settlement of around £500,000 from a hospital that gave his newborn babies a potentially lethal overdose.

Twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were accidentally injected with 1,000 times the recommended dose of blood thinner heparin, shortly after their birth at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles last year.

Documents filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court yesterday show that The Day After Tomorrow star and his wife Kimberly have accepted a cash settlement from the hospital but are continuing with their lawsuit against the drug manufacturer.

The couple are alleging that Baxter Healthcare Corp failed to properly label the medication which led to the massive overdose. “

Yep, I hope that he wins his lawsuit with the drug manufacturer even more than I would have hoped that he won against the hospital. I suspect that he will win even more in that one. Quaid spoke out a few months ago about the health of his baby girl, Zoe Grace, and his son, Thomas Boone, and he was happy to report that everyone was doing just fine.

Meg and Dennis’ Very Public Battle

September 29th, 2008 | Comments Off | Posted in Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan, Russell Crowe

Dennis Quaid is furious over comments his ex-wife, Meg Ryan made in a recent interview with In Style. Meg talked about how Dennis had cheated on her for a very long time and there was a lot she didn’t know until her marriage was over. Dennis thinks that it’s time to put the dirty laundry in the wash and forget about it - what’s done is done and reliving it is only hurting their son. Apparently. From Pop Crunch,

“Dennis Quaid is firing back at comments ex-wife Meg Ryan made regarding their 2000 divorce in the October issue of In Style. Dennis is livid over Meg’s allegations that he was not faithful to her “for a very long time.”

“It was eight years ago,” he tells the New York Daily News. “I find it unbelievable that Meg continues publicly to rehash and rewrite the story of our relationship.”

Dennis says it is “regrettable that our son, Jack, has to be reminded in a public way of the turmoil and pain that every child feels in a divorce.”

One, let’s keep the children out of it, shall we? Whatever pain that child is feeling, he will feel it for the rest of his life and whether or not it’s talked about, it’s damaging. So let’s not even mention his name because that’s not helping matters. Two, Meg Ryan herself had an affair. It was with Russell Crowe while they were filming the movie Burden of Proof and it’s actually THAT affair that ended their marriage. Why it ended their marriage I’m not quite certain - was it because Quaid couldn’t forgive her or because Meg was so in love with Crowe that she couldn’t not be with him? If it’s the first reason, that makes Quaid not only a cheater but a hypocrite as well. And my third point is, if Meg cheated too then why is she rehashing everything in public? I really like her but I don’t understand her thinking on this one. Not to mention the fact that what happens to people, happens to people and if they want to talk about it, that’s their perogative. Just because you were the one to do the hurting in the story, doesn’t mean that they don’t have a right to say what they want about it.
