First Pics of Matthew McConaughey’s Baby Girl Vida!

I think there’s something wrong with people who don’t like Matthew McConaughey. I have to admit, once I found out about the whole placenta-burying thing, I tried really hard not to like him. Just because, ew that’s gross. But I just can’t do it! Everything about him is just so darned cute, including that little family he’s made for himself. And the best thing about Matthew is that he has a heart of gold and you can tell that in everything that the man does. He just released the first pics of new baby girl, Vida, who was born earlier this month to Matt and Camila Alves.

Most pics of newborn babies are pretty cute. And most pics of newborn babies, with celebrity parents on either side of them and cameras positioned just right so everything is perfect, are even cuter. But this picture is just so sweet. The love between Matt and Camila just jumps right off the page at you, and little baby Vida sleeping so soundly and looking so peaceful. If Levi was in it, it would truly be the perfect first family picture.

Just to keep you informed, there are rumors going around that there’s trouble between Matt and Camila. I refuse to believe it and so, I’m not even going to dignify the rumors by spilling the details. But, I just wanted to let everyone know that yes, the poison from the rumor mill has spilled over into the perfection that is Matt and Camila.

Matt McConaughey Welcomes the New Year with a New Addition!

With his first son, Levi being just about 18 months old, Matthew McConaughey welcomes the New Year with a new addition – a baby girl! It was today, January 3, 2010 that Matt McConaughey and Camila Alves welcomed their second child, a daughter, to their growing family. Her name is Vida Alves McConaughey and as Matt explains, Vida means “life” in Portuguese. Levi and Vida. There’s just something beautiful-sounding about the two names, isn’t there? From US comes comments from Matt himself via his own website, as well as some of the families anxious comments in the days leading up to the birth. From US,

He announced on his website Sunday: “Happy New Year everybody!!! On Sunday, Jan. 3rd at 12:13am, Camila gave birth to a healthy 7lb. 7oz. baby girl named “Vida Alves McConaughey”…. Vida is Portuguese for “life” and that’s what God gave us this morning… Camila’s recovering wonderfully and we are both truly honored to welcome this little lady into our family… thanks for all your well wishes and prayers along the way. another blessed day. we give thanks. just keep livin, Matthew and Camila”

On Dec. 28, McConaughey’s mother Kay gushed to UsMagazine.com: “We have no idea when the baby is coming! The baby could come literally any minute. We are all waiting and very excited!”

Less than a year after the birth of their first son Levi, McConaughey, 40, announced this past June that he and his girlfriend were expecting again.

“We pulled off the greatest miracle in the world one more time,” he wrote on his website at the time. “The future looks bright as the family grows.”

In September, he blogged that he was amazed at how fast his son Levi was growing.

“He’s motoring around like [Olympic sprinter] Usain Bolt and eatin like [competitive eater Takeru] Kobayashi; Camila and I can barely keep up,” he wrote. “We call him the fruit bandit ’cause if there’s fruit out, he’s on it, takin it and eatin it.”

Added the actor, “He’s gettin bigger, more fun, smarter and craftier by the day.”

After Levi was born, Matt went from being this hippy surfer type to this fun loving dad, and a man who was all-consumed with his love for his family, while still being the hippy, surfer type. When his obsession with being a free spirit led him to do things such as bury Levi’s placenta in their orchard, I had my worries about Matt McConaughey. But, how can you not love this guy? He’s so cute and has such an adorable family. And if he wants to bury placentas, the more power to him. He’s not doing it in my backyard.

Matthew and Camila will be Parents Again!

Matthew McConaughey sure had a busy Father’s Day yesterday. Not only was it the first time he celebrated it as a dad with his 11-month old son, Levi, he also announced that his girlfriend, Camila Alves is pregnant again with their second child. Man, talk about getting right back to work. I can’t imagine how far along she is and right now there’s no word on when the new bundle is expected to arrive. But two pregnancies in a year is a lot for any woman to take! But at least Matt will have another placenta to bury in their backyard right beside Levi’s. Now, isn’t that special? From Contact Music,

No announcements have yet been made about when Camila is due to give birth.

Matthew has regularly spoken about his love for Levi and has described fatherhood as a “wild, wonderful adventure”.

He recently revealed becoming a dad has helped him find joy and fun in everyday life.

The 39-year-old hunk said: “The coolest thing I’ve learned from Levi is kids really remind you of your sense of humour. They pee on you and they’re just laughing and all of sudden you’re reminded of having a sense of humour about everything.

“You can watch Levi, and everything he sees is for the first time, so you see the wonder in something we see every day.”

Matthew McConaughey really is in love with being a parent and while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, he also seems to be leaning to the freaky-deaky side. Not only is he big on the placenta-burying thing but he also chanted in the delivery room when Levi was born and he said shortly after that he and Camila ‘rocked it out like a team.’ Which I just think is something weird to say after the birth of your son. But there’s no doubt that he does love his kid, loves the one already on the way, and loves his family. And you really can’t say too much bad about that, I guess.

Is Matt McConaughey another Hollywood Weirdo?

We all know that Matt McConaughey has been the most super excited dad that Hollywood has seen in a long time. He has openly spoken about what happened in the delivery room and about how he and Camila Alves were a team in the delivery room and he was rocking and cheering (which he compared to a chant) during the long and hard labor. But there’s excitement and then there’s just plain eeeewwwww. It seems as though McConaughey doesn’t want to let those delivery room memories go as he is planning on having his new son, Levi’s, placenta buried in his orchard. Gross. From Ecorazzi.com,

“New dad Matthew McConaughey is planning to follow a ritual common in some cultures of planting the placenta of a new born. The idea is that the tree is a constant reminder of the child’s life on this planet — growing year by year right along with the newborn. McConaughey, whose girlfriend Camila Alves gave birth to their son Levi in July, saved the placenta after becoming inspired to do so after a trip to Australia.

“When I was in Australia, they had a placenta tree that was on the river … and all the placentas of all that tribe, all that clan, whatever aboriginal tribe that was, all the placentas went under that one tree and it was this huge behemoth of just health and strength,” the actor said in an interview.”

I don’t understand this and I know many people will think that it’s a beautiful ritual but I really do just think it’s gross. And who wants to look at that while they’re planting it? Have you ever seen a placenta? It’s absolutely disgusting! If Matt wants to stay true to his hippie/surfer dude personality, why doesn’t he simply plant a tree in the orchard that can be Levi’s special tree and grow along with him? This is a beautiful way to acknowledge something very special without having to partake in extremely gross and weird activities. I just don’t understand how using something that was inside the mother as fertilizer is beautiful.

Aw! Matt and Camila are Engaged!!

Shortly after his son’s birth, and by shortly I mean an hour or two, Matt McConaughey proposed to his girlfriend Camila Alves! Apparantly Matt was very emotional as he held his new bundle of joy and realized, as most new parents do I think, that all that matters in the world is right in the same room as you. From The National Enquirer,

“Hollywood playboy Matthew McConaughey has been tamed at last! And all it took was a tiny 7 pound, 4 ounce baby boy to finally persuade the “Fool’s gold” star to say goodbye to his bachelor days. Matthew popped the question to Brazilian stunner Camila Alves, 25, just hours after she gave birth to their son, Levi, on July 7, The Enquirer has learned. And she said yes!

“Camila was absolutely overjoyed - a baby and a marriage proposal on the same day,” revealed an insider. “It was magic.” The source said once Matthew held little Levi, he knew that marriage was the next step. Matt’s privately been diamond shopping, and he wants Camila to design her own engagement ring, the insider added. They aren’t announcing their marriage plans yet - and just like they sold the first photos of their baby, it’s possible they’ll try to cash in on the wedding.”

I’m not too sure that the cash comment at the end was absolultey necessary. All celebrities, excluding Nicole Kidman, of course, are selling their first baby pictures these days and quite often, the money is then given away to charity. And I really don’t think that Matt is the type to have his wedding ceremony performed on television anyway. I predict that this will be a very private affair and that their new son, Levi, will play in a big part of it!
