Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes: Splitsville!

It was in 2008 that the movie Revolutionary Road was released and it was a movie that marked the reunion of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio starring alongside each other. The other big news about that movie was that Sam Mendes, Kate’s husband, was directing the film.

During filming and afterwards, as Kate was scooping up awards for the performance, both Kate and Sam spoke about how it wasn’t weird at all to work with each other and that doing the love scenes was “completely professional” even though Leo himself said that he fully expected Sam to come over and sock him during those bits. But it turns out that this may be a case where life imitates art as the plot line for the movie was about a couple who were in a rut in their marriage and desperately trying to find a way to fix it.

Now though, Kate and Sam have separated and it looks like there’s no way out of the rut for them. And even though Kate called him “babe” when she accepted her Golden Globe for the performance, and told him that no one else would have been able to get that performance out of her, it’s said that the two were having trouble even while filming the movie. No wonder Leo thought Sam was gonna beat on him just a little bit! From People,

“As news broke of Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes’s amicable split Monday, the couple was thousands of miles apart.

The distance underscored what the pair said Monday through their lawyers – “that they separated earlier this year.” The Oscar-winning actress was with friends and her children in Mexico (where the U.K newspaper The Sun pictured her recreating the arms-out Titanic pose on an inflatable dinghy). Mendes, 44, was reportedly with friends in New England.

They were seen in public together at the Wimbledon tennis tournament in the summer of 2009. Then last week, he was back in England visiting the National Theatre where he was in the audience of London Assurance, a source confirms.

Winslet was noticeably solo at this year’s series of award ceremonies, including the BAFTAs in London and the Oscars in L.A. Her red carpet appearances were in stark contrast to the previous award season when the couple was ubiquitous on the red carpets and, she, on the winners’ podiums.

In fact, during her 2009 Golden Globe victory best actress for her role in Mendes’s Revolutionary Road, Winslet called him “babe,” and enthusiastically thanked him. She said at the time, “[I] loved every second of working with you and it’s made me love you more.”

Apparently not. It really is sad that these two weren’t able to make it. The two have one son together, Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes, who is 6 and Kate has a daughter, Mia, who is 9 and from her first marriage. Kate and Sam got married in 2003 and US is reporting their split as being “amicable and mutual” and that there is no animosity, just two work schedules that don’t seem to work together. I’m not buying it! If you really want to make your marriage work, you can overcome scheduling problems.

I am sorry to see that these two are getting divorced but, I can’t help but think, does this mean that Leo is going to dump Bar for Kate? Nothing against Bar Rafeali, but I really would love to see that. The two just make such a cute couple! By the way, this pic of Kate was taken yesterday while she vacationed in Mexico after officially announcing the split. Kids or no kids, failed marriages or not, Kate Winslet is still a hottie, no question!

Leo and Bar Seem to Be Together and Happy

This past summer Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Rafaeli broke up once again. After this, Leo started dating any model he could get his hands on and Bar, well, Bar seemed to retreat into the shadows to heal her wounded heart. That much made sense, since the reason for the split was rumored to be that Bar wanted to get super serious and Leo did not. But now it seems that the couple who just can’t stay away from each other, are not staying away from each other anymore. The two were recently spotted down in Mexico, with Leo all shirtless and such and Bar showing off her own model body in an itty bitty bikini. And, is it just me, or is Leo looking a little pudgy in the gut area? I know that he’s getting older and it’s not reasonable to expect him to be in the kind of shape he was in during Titanic but seriously! The guy’s a movie star! He might want to do a few sit-ups.

What is Going on With Cameron Diaz?

Cameron Diaz has sort of been laying low lately. After her split from Justin Timberlake, it was big news that she started dating model, Paul Sculfor. The two dated for about six months when they split and last it was reported, Cameron was dating Adam Levine. But all of that happened back in May and ever since, we’ve really heard very little on the subject of Cameron and her many men. Apparently though, nothing ever came of the Adam relationship, or it was all falsehood to begin with because now, there is not one, but two, new men in Cameron’s life. Phew! That girl knows how to play single!

The two men that are reported to be the centers of Cameron’s affection are Leonardo DiCaprio, who also became recently single after his split from Bar Rafeali, and Jude Law, who Cameron co-starred with in a movie sometime back. Aw, this is like the best of Kate Hudson and Jennifer Aniston combined. There are so many men and so little time! So far though, Cameron has started any reruns, unlike her predecessors. Cameron has been showing a lot of interest while he is in London filming. She was back at his rented apartment in Knightsbridge, West London, a couple of times last week after a series of secret dates. They were joking with friends that they played chess together.
“Jude and Cameron have been good friends since they filmed The Holiday together a few years ago. Now they are both single, things are a bit different between them. Jude has been flirting with her and she has been playing along.”

Who knows? Maybe Cameron will dump both of them and find someone new to play with for a little while. She is hot though and very classy too. So, it’s another case where I can’t help but cheer the single girl on as we have fun watching her have fun!

Are Leo and Bar Dunzo or Not?

People has come out with a story claiming that Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Rafaeli have broken up but I’m not really sure if I can believe it. People is usually a magazine that is fairly reliable and I’m positive that it’s one of the first sources celebs run to when they want something ‘leaked’ but I really think they might have their facts wrong on this one. But apparently their story is that because of Bar’s wanting to get uber-serious and Leo’s attitude of ‘not so much’, the two have decided to take a break for a little while. From People,

“On-again off-again couple Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Refaeli have called it quits once more, sources confirm to PEOPLE.

“They’re taking time off for the time being, they’ve split,” says a source. “It could just end up as a break but for now they’re doing their own thing.”

That much was certainly apparent over the weekend as the Israeli-born Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, 23, walked the red carpet at Hollywood Life’s 11th Annual Young Hollywood Awards solo, refusing to speak about DiCaprio.

The previous weekend, the Titanic star, 34, hit the hotspot Avenue in New York City, where he was seen chatting with another woman.

“He was standing at the bar in front of everyone talking to a girl the entire night – and it wasn’t Bar,” says one onlooker of the May 30 encounter. “It was in no way behavior for a guy who has a serious girlfriend.”

DiCaprio and Refaeli were then reportedly photographed together in Los Angeles on June 8.

According to a Refaeli source, the model’s desire to get serious may have caused the actor to have doubts about their relationship. “She wanted to move faster than he did, she wanted to move in together,” the source says, “so he broke it off.”

I don’t think either Leo’s behavior or Bar’s for that matter indicates a split. Celebrities often don’t like to talk about their personal life (they want to be celebrated for their art, don’t ya know?) and the fact that Leo was chatting with some girls at a bar doesn’t seem to me to automatically mean that he’s no longer with the lady in his life. All of this though I might be willing to overlook and buy into the story, simply because People is reporting it. BUT. 

This picture of Leo and Bar together at Barnes & Noble was taken after People had reported the breakup. Granted, Bar looks miserable but when doesn’t she? My question is, do couples who have broken up often go book-shopping together? I realize that this could happen if they ended things amicably but, the day after? It just leaves me very confused. So what do you think? Are these two still together? Or have they broken up and just maintain some sort of really weird relationship? Leonardo, after all, is known to have strange attachments to women. He did give his costar, Kate Winslet that very precious and very sentimental ring that she wears all the time. I guess this is another one where we just have to wait and see.
