Alec Baldwin Writes a Book on … Fatherhood?
Most of us will probably never forget the crazy, vitriolic message left by Alec Baldwin for his daughter Ireland. This no doubt puts him in the running for worst celeb father of the year - but he’s turned that around and written a book about fatherhood, divorce and spending time with your kids called, “A Promise to Ourselves: A Journey Through Fatherhood and Divorce.”
Not to defend his actions, but it’s not too hard to understand why Baldwin would be upset, while going through a divorce from his then-wife, Kim Basinger.
In his book, he writes, “When you lose custody of your child, so much of what is magical and priceless in this experience is taken away from you. The moments still occur, but you are no longer there to share them. You find yourself constantly wondering what your child is doing now.”
Sure, it’s sad. But that’s no excuse to leave an angry phone message for your kid - although I like to think he’s learned his lesson! The book also delves into his own childhood, which was apparently poor but happy. Hmmm … looks like he can’t play the blame game too hard!
