Duchovny Speaks about Addiction

It must be catch-up weekend because everyone seems to be giving updates on the stories of the past week, which we always love and fully appreciate! David Duchovny was of course, checked into an addiction facility voluntarily just a few days ago and there was really nothing else said about it except for his plea to respect their family and their privacy. So I suppose he’s thought it’s been enough time because he has released a statement that addresses the issue to People, “But the actor, who has now entered a rehabilitation center for sex addiction, was always quick to add that his marriage to actress Téa Leoni was a pretty good reason to keep his libido in check.

“Twelve years ago, I would have been hard-pressed to understand why I’d want to be involved sexually with one person this long,” the X Files and Californication actor told Best Life magazine earlier this year.

“Before Téa, the longest my intense sexual interest would last would be maybe two years,” he said. “But the real rewards of a relationship come after you’ve been together a while. That’s where Téa and I are lucky.”

Duchovny, 48, and Leoni, 42, were married in 1997 and have two children, Madelaine, 9, and Kyd, 6.”

I think it’s great that even after you’ve been married for awhile and have had children, some Hollywood couples still manage to truly love each other and support each other. I also like it when stars realize that they are in the public eye and so they should issue some sort of statement regarding what they’re going through. Really I think the more they run from it, the more the media presses so letting us in on little details is really just helping themselves out I think and you have to give Duchovny credit for going public with this one. This is a little bit of an embarrasing issue and for other people that struggle with it, and probably don’t want to talk about it, it may be helpful to know that this little-talked about issue is one that affects many.

Michael Phelps is a Popular Boy

Just a few days ago it was reported that fourteen-time Olympic medal winner, Michael Phelps, was planning a “quiet, first date” with country singer Carrie Underwood. Well it seems that Michael impressed more than just the judges this past year as Carrie is not the only one that’s interested. It seems that Lindsay, who has been seeing girlfriend Samantha Ronson for some time, would also like the chance to date Michael. From Contact Music,

“LINDSAY LOHAN has reportedly been pleading with Olympic swimmer MICHAEL PHELPS for a date.
The actress - who is rumoured to be dating DJ Samantha Ronson - is said to have bombarded the U.S. gold medal winner with calls and text messages asking him to take her out.
And his cool response hasn’t put her off - because the more he ignores her, the harder she tries.
A source tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, “At first he thought it was a joke when she got in touch. But she’s since been phoning and texting constantly.
“It’s become a running joke in his camp. Lindsay has been trying to meet up with him. They’re both going to the MTV Video Music Awards next month so they’ll be sure to see each other properly then.
“Phelps is certainly flattered by all the attention but it’s not clear how seriously he’s taking it all.”

So, I’m not all that happy about this. I really love the thought of Carrie and Michael together and while I do really like Lindsay, I think that she should just stay with Sam and retreat from the swimmer’s life. I also wonder how Samantha is taking all of this? Her relationship with Lindsay has come under great fire both with the media and her family and they seemed to have stayed strong so far and come out the better for it. It would be hard for me to believe that a cute athlete could break that up with just one text.

I Knew I Always Liked Her!

I have always been a big Queen Latifah fan but now she has tripled in star status in my eyes. What I didn’t know about the actress and singer was that she was gay and while at first I felt pretty stupid about this since she’s been with her girlfriend since like, forever, I felt better when the story I was reading mentioned that they hadn’t openly come out. But it turns out that this pair also want to adopt and unlike all those other stars that need to reach into the far corners of the Earth and see what kind of child they pull out, Queen Latifah and Jeanette Jenkins plan to adopt a child from the United States that needs a good home. From Celebitchy,

“It’s top secret right now, but they are hoping to have a little one by Christmas,” a longtime pal told The Enquirer. “They’re trying to keep it quiet because they don’t want to jinx the whole thing.” Latifah’s sister, who works in New Jersey’s Division of Youth and Family Services, is helping guide her through the red tape, said the source.

“I can understand why people go outside the U.S. You can adopt someone here, and the birth parents have three years to come back and get that child. That’s terrifying,” said the Oscar-nominated “Chicago” star. But she says poor American children “can use just as much assistance as someone from around the world. I want to do something here.”

Adoption has been on her mind for a long time. The “Mad Money” star told a reporter last year, “I’ve always wanted to have [babies] and adopt. When I was little, I remember seeing TV shows and a child would be adopted and be happy. I just always felt like there are so many kids out there who need a parent.”

This makes my heart soar as I have just about had it with celebrities who overlook the needs in their own country before reaching out to others. Can you imagine how much fun Queen Latifah would be if she was your mom? I think this will turn out to be a great family and I’m very happy for them!

Maddox has Blue Hair

Okay so yes, it appears that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have decided to dye little Maddox’s hair blue. While I’m sure it’s just for the day and I don’t think that anyone needs to be outraged about this, it’s a slow news day and I took the opportunity to show everyone just how ridiculous Brad looks! I don’t know what’s with that thing on his head and those pants should stay in his closet until he’s at least 70! And the undone shirt with the wife-beater showing? Not a good look, Brad. Is it just me or has his fashion sense really gone downhill since he’s been with Angelina?

Michael Lohan Won’t Shut Up!

Just as everyone predicted, Michael Lohan has come back to the media after his daughter Lindsay accused him of being out of control and a media hog. This is especially interesting to me because from the reports that I read, it was Samantha Ronson that talked the most trash about Mr. Lohan and while Lindsay posted some harsh words of her own, she allowed her girlfriend to have most of the joy. It just seems even weirder to me because you would think that the person you lash back out against is the person that said the worst but, I guess that wouldn’t get enough media attention. As usual, what he says makes absolutely no sense as it is reported by The Pop Crunch Show,

“Michael told ABC News late Thursday: “She’s (Lohan) gone from making $7 million to less than a million a movie.

“Who’s out of control? I go to church. I go and help people in rehab. That’s control. How can she say I’m out of control?”

He adds, “I want Lindsay to be in a good place. When I started looking at what Samantha was doing, dragging Lindsay to clubs, drinking around Lindsay… Samantha is one of the biggest problems in her life.”

“That’s what Dina told me. I’m reacting on what Dina said, but then Dina steps out of the picture because she wants to look like the good guy.”

“Dina’s a two-face. She wants to try to look good and stay on Lindsay’s good side instead of being a good parent. I don’t give two hoots about my relationship with Lindsay as a friend. One day she’s going to turn around to me and tell me, ‘Daddy, you were right’.”

Michael, several things are wrong with this.

1.) I’m fairly certain Lindsay will not come back and say that you’re right.

2.) Although you may not care about your friendship with your daughter, you should care about your relationship with her as your daughter - which you don’t. Trust, loyalty, a sense of being there for each other are all elements of friendship but you must have them in a parental role as well.

3.) If you’re so insistent on making us all think that you don’t see dollar signs when you look at Lindsay, stop telling us all what she makes!! And then act disgusted by it!!

4.) Going to church and helping people in rehab are both good things. Neither means that you have control or that you’re a good father.

5.) It was once Samantha entered the picture that the bar and public drunk scenes were taken out of it.

I would think that someone who was so ripe on getting the media involved would prepare something to say that made a little more sense and was a little more mature.

Carrie and Michael Getting Along Swimmingly

Ever since her breakup with Tony Romo, people have been talking about who Carrie Underwood’s potential replacements may or may not be and we have all been ear-marking the stars that we would most love to see her with. Well it seems that Ms. Underwood was paying very special attention this year to the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics as the glint from Michael Phelps’ fourteen various Olympic medals caught her eye. She commented that he was cute, someone overheard and the remark made its way to the ears of Phelps who was overjoyed. It turns out the two are already planning their first date and it sounds as if Michael is as cute as Carrie is. They remind me of two teens in high school as the Pop Crunch Show reports,

“An excited Michael is hoping there won’t be too much eating involved on this outing. The 23-year-old athlete told Carrie, “I’m not so sure you’d want to see me eat! It might not make a great first impression.”

“Carrie needs someone who is going to stick by her,” a skeptical pal of Carrie’s revealed to the National Enquirer. “She was devastated when her relationship with Tony Romo broke. The last thing she needs is a relationship with another high-profile celebrity who’s going to end up loving and leaving her.”

I never trust the National Enquirer for any reason but I don’t think anyone should be skeptical about this hookup. I think it’s awesome and frankly, whoever she dates is going to be taken to high-profile celebrity status simply because they’re with her. I might be more excited about this date than Michael is! I really hope it goes well and that these two have a long and beautiful relationship while we stick our noses into it!

David Duchovny is a Sex Addict

I don’t know if this is funny or sad but David Duchovny has recently checked himself into a sex rehabilitation center. This is what the Chicago Tribune reported about it,

“Tea Leoni’s husband, actor David Duchovny, has entered rehab for his sex addiction.

Duchovny, 48, said he did it voluntarily, in a statement released Thursday by his lawyer, Stanton Stein. He added: “I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.”

Duchovny’s publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the report, which first appeared on the Web site People.com. She and Stein both declined further comment.”

I guess all families have problems, no matter how crazy those problems may seem. I don’t know why he couldn’t check himself in somewhat quietly - I guess nothing is quiet in Hollywood and he decided that it would be better for fans to hear it from him than the media. I don’t think however that he or his family will receive the privacy and respect that they are hoping for though. Nothing’s sacred in the world of Tinseltown and now that the cat’s out of the bag, I think I can already hear the paps pulling out their cameras as they huddle as close as they can get to the center David has checked himself into.

The Couple that Stays Together … Shares Clothes?

Apparently that’s the case with Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz. Following a rumor that she was so unhappy with her pregnancy weight gain, she had bought herself a pair of size 0 jeans to motivate herself after the baby (and who could blame her?!) she spoke out about the inaccuracy of that statement. She blogged that the weight gain is “the last thing” on her mind and she’s concentrating on having a healthy pregnancy and lounging in her stretchy maternity clothes. She then revealed that she’s given her closet of size 0 jeans over to hubby Pete for now and, “he looks so hot in them.” I’m not sure I’d want to know that my husband could fit into the same jeans as I could - much less a size 0!!

Although for a rocker I guess it could be a pretty sweet deal - sounds like he’s got a whole new wardrobe full of skinny jeans!

Don’t Mess with Lindsay and Sam!

Michael Lohan should know better by now to not run to the media with gripes about his daughter - especially when it involves her girlfriend, Samantha Ronson.These two are an extremely strong force when together and Lindsay’s dad - of all people! - should realize that they will not simply lie down and let you walk all over them. Of course, because it’s Michael Lohan that we’re talking about, I’m sure he’s foreseen this media war and the prospect has overjoyed him. He recently lashed out at the two, specifically Samantha and she stays on course by attacking him through her blog. Here is what Celebrity Dirty Laundry reported her blog had to say,

“I really don’t want to say anything because I feel like he wins. ‘He’ being the man who is so desperate for attention that he goes to the media whenever possible. I know I am being used, I am just a pawn - easy to sacrifice to feed his addiction. I am not standing in his way - I am not the reason he has no contact with his daughter - he is. His need to throw a tantrum for the whole world to hear is.”

Lindsay also wrote on her own blog saying that her dad was “out of control” and she also clearly indicated that he is not in her life because she chooses it to be that way. In other Lohan news, Lindsay’s grandfather passed away today and Michael has seized it as yet another opportunity to launch attack on his former family. Instead of saying how much the man will be missed and that he will forever live on in their hearts, this is what Celebrity Rights quoted Michael as saying,

“My father just, literally, died in my arms. I notified all my kids and my lawyer notified Dina’s attorney. Let’s see if she has the decency and respect to bring my kids to the wake and funeral. THIS will show her true colors!

“Thus, not even a call. But that’s par for the course with Dina! She didn’t even send a card or visit when he was sick.”

It’s pretty clear what Michael’s intentions are and whether you like Lindsay or you hate her, one can’t help but feel sorry for her for having such a horrible father. It’s always too bad when the parents get more caught up in the fame-hype than the children but this seems to be a case of the extreme.

Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton: Splitsville!

There is really nothing to say about this story except that it’s true that Michael Bolton and Nicollette Sheridan have split up. These two were very serious about each other and had been dating for a total of eight years, on and off again, with the last two years overseeing their engagement that was announced in 2006. Their reps aren’t talking so whatever happened between these two will remain between them…at least for the time being. From Reuters,

“Desperate Housewives” star Nicollette Sheridan and singer Michael Bolton have called off their engagement, the actress’ spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

Bolton, 55, and Sheridan, 44, started dating in 1992 but broke up five years later. They revived their relationship three years ago and announced their engagement in 2006.

“Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have amicably ended their engagement,” Nicole Perna, a publicist for the actress, said in a statement.

“They appreciate your respect for their privacy in this matter,” Perna said.”

This is quite sad I think only because Bolton is so well-known for his love songs that speak of a greater love than many of us will ever know. It just makes you think that if someone who seems to know love so personally can’t make it work, then what hope do the rest of us have? Well these two have found their way back to each other before so maybe they can do it again. Michael in the meanwhile, can sing sad love songs.
