Is the Hype Really Worth THAT Much?
The rumoured price for pics of the new Jolie-Pitt babies, Knox and Vivienne - is said to be up to $16 million. At that price, the magazines are banking on some SERIOUS sales. But are there really THAT many people out there who would be excited enough about these pics to go out and buy a magazine they wouldn’t normally buy? Guess the magazines are counting on the answer to that question being “yes.”
And if we were judging on publicity so far along, I would say “yes” as well. Even before the birth everyone and their mom involved with the birth was holding a press conference, it seemed like. From the Mayor to Angelina’s Doctor, they all got a piece of the publicity action. So why stop there? Why not charge $16 million for picture?
As someone who lives much of my life online, I personally would NOT go out and buy a mag for these pics. I’m in no hurry, and sooner or later they’ll be online. The reality is, that it will probably be sooner - especially if someone leaks them before they’re even out in the magazines.
